My Nine Step Animal Crossing: New Horizons Chore List

Animal Crossing: New Horizons seems to have a depthless amount of content. However, after about 350 hours of play time, I've found a routine that I like to follow every morning. New steps will be added as more content is added to the game!

1. Check the mail

This is one of the more exciting items. There's usually a nice letter from one of my villagers or some items that I've ordered from the Nook Stop that I've forgotten about.

2. Check the shops

I like to start off by sprinting to Nook's Cranny to quickly check the morning turnip prices (I don't wake up early enough to do this without having to hurry) and then browse through the day's wares. Then we're off to the Able Sisters! Talking to Sable and Mabel is Mandatory. I'll usually buy some socks or accessories.

3. Sort out my flowers

This is one of the longer chores, but is one of my favorites. Flower breeding has taken up a surprisingly large amount of the time I've spent playing New Horizons. The flowers I'm currently trying to breed are the blue rose and green mum. In this step, I clean up the flowers that I don't want and move the flowers I want to keep. Multiple trips to Nook's Cranny are necessary to empty out my inventory of flower buds.

4. Shake trees

My island has only seven hardwood trees. Two of these trees hide furniture, while the other five will release dangerous wasps if shaken. All seven trees will receive a shake and all five wasps (hopefully) will be caught in my trusty net. They're worth 2,500 bells each, after all. These wasps and their nests will be sold in a quick trip to Nook's Cranny. Let's deposit all these bells!

5. Check the Nook Stop

This step has multiple actions. First, check the "Redeem Nook Miles" option for new fence recipes. Next, check the "Nook Shopping" option for any cool objects I'm interested in purchasing. Last, deposit bells in the ABD. Time to head back outside!

6. Pick fruit

Fruit picking takes a different amount of time depending on the day I'm playing. When the orchard is still growing fruit, this step takes almost no time at all. But when the orchard is ready, I'll spend a good five minutes shaking and picking up stacks of cherries and pears. All the fruits but cherries will be sold to the Nooks.

7. Walk around the beaches

Starting from the upper right corner of my island, I will walk around the entire island, making sure to shake every coconut tree with fruit and pick up every shell. These shells are useful for crafting and can be sold too. If I see a fish with a big shadow or a fin, I'll pull out my fishing rod and catch it. After I've circled around the whole island, I'll sell the coconuts at Nook's Cranny and store the cherries and shells in my home.

8. Hit rocks

The rocks on my island are conveniently placed at the top left, so when I finish walking around the beaches, I arrive at my stone quarry! Here, I hit each rock multiple times to collect all the stones and minerals they offer. To achieve full rock output, dig a line of holes behind where you'll be standing to hit the rock.

We're nearing the end of our list!

9. Ocean exploration

It's time to don your wetsuit and take a dip in the ocean! Starting from the top left of my island, I'll cannonball into the waters and start swimming around my island, keeping an eye out for any bubbles. Make sure to catch a scallop so that Pascal can trade it for a pearl or a mermaid recipe. This step is one of the longer ones, but it's relaxing to hear the sound of the ocean. You may need to stop halfway through your route to sell your stock to the Nooks. Finish swimming around and sell the rest of the sea creatures you've found!

There are a lot of things to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so I hope this list helps you organize your own "chores". Happy Animal Crossing!
